Remark

When founding the new Central Bank, the first intention was to name it "BANCO CENTRAL DE LA REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY".
This idea was abandoned as it could have created confusion with the "BANCO DE LA REPÚBLICA ORIENTAL DEL URUGUAY", which continued to exist in parallel as a commercial bank. Meanwhile, however,  proofs were already produced by printers in London.
When the decision was taken to name the bank "BANCO CENTRAL DEL URUGUAY", plates of the notes to be issued were changed accordingly.
