GERMANY - Reichsschuldenverwaltung

Value

10 (12) Dollar

Issued by

Reichsschuldenverwaltung

Date

07.03.1923 - redemption date 15.04.1926

Remark

Schatzanweisung (Treasury Bond) to replenish foreign exchange reserves of the German Reich
nominal value 5 US Dollars, redeemable after 3 years for 6 US Dollars (i.e. 6.26% interests p.a.)
it is believed that at least the lower denominations - 5 (6) and 10 (12) Dollar - were used for private payments and in retail trade
the higher denominations - 20 (24) to 100 (120) Dollar - were definitely used in wholesale and foreign trade
at the end of 1924 the Reichsbank took over the debts for this emission from the Reichsschuldenverwaltung and was able to fully redeem the bonds in time
